Colorful Flowers

Terms & Conditions

Are my flowers suitable?

We ask that flowers are delivered to us within a week of the event. We may still be able to work with flowers that are older but usually the fresher the flowers the better the results. Unfortunately it is not possible to advise on the condition of flowers by looking at a photo. As a general guide, if the flowers have started to really droop, are shedding petals or have petals turning brown then they will not be suitable.

A few flowers are not suitable for drying regardless of condition, these include; Lilys, Tulips, Orchids, Succulents, Calla Lilys and Chrysanths.

Getting your flowers to us

Please send your flowers to;  Wild Ivy Norfolk, Heartsease Thurgarton Road, Aldborough, Norwich, NR11 7NY.  If you are dropping your flowers off, please leave in the front porch. To package your flowers either wrap as a bouquet or in small groups in tissue paper and place in a sturdy box along with a note with the your name, email & mobile number on. Please make sure the name you provide matches the name on the order to avoid confusion and delays. Do not put anything wet or damp in with the flowers as this can accelerate deterioration. Only pack your flowers up when you are ready to send/deliver them. We will let you know when your flowers arrive safely with us.

We begin work on your flowers as soon as we receive them to get the best possible results for you.  For insurance purposes we work on the flowers at home.

How flowers dry, natural changes

When your flowers have dried & we are ready to begin working on your frame we will email you with a photo to show you how your flowers have dried & to check that you are happy with them before we move onto the next step. Please look out for this email as it is important that that we begin work on your flower keepsake as soon as possible when the flowers have dried.

Flowers will naturally change colour and shape as they dry and age, white roses will turn a cream colour, pinks may fade and reds may darken. On rare occasions flowers don't dry well and unfortunately there is no way of knowing this before we begin the drying process. Some flowers can appear healthy and in excellent condition but may have bacteria or disease in the leaves or stems, or may have been treated with harsh fertilizers which we know nothing about.

If you are not happy with how your flowers have dried and do not wish to continue with having your keepsake created then let us know at this point & we will return your flowers to you. After this point, as flower preservations are custom orders, refunds are no longer possible.

How long will my framed flowers last?

Dried or pressed flowers that have been framed can last for decades, I personally have a couple of Victorian pressed flower frames at home. But it does all depend on the health & history of the flowers and the care taken after they are framed. Unfortunately you can't always tell if a flower is unhealthy just by appearance, some harbour bacteria in the leaves and until they have been dried there is no way of knowing this, which is why I always check clients are happy with the how the flowers have dried before continuing to frame them. Once framed, flowers need to be kept out of direct sunlight, & not exposed to extreme temperature changes, dampness or humidity, then they should last for decades. The difference between the colour preserved and dried is a dye is added to each individual flower and leaf when colour preserving meaning that they will hold a vibrant colour for decades when dried. Dried flowers without a colour dye will fade naturally and gradually, some as they dry and others after months or years. So in short, as long as the flowers dry well they should last for decades.
